Bermuda Biological Station
West End Area
This is a center for major research, founded in 1903 by Harvard University, New York University, and the bermuda Natural History Society. Still functioning today, there is a resident staff and all sorts of visiting researchers at all times. On Wednesdays they give a free tour to anyone interested in their research on marine life, coral ecology, and oceanography. Research done here at BBSR plays a pivotal role in today's field of climate change. The one-hour tour will
lead you to visit the research vessels and their prestigious labs. It's a free tour, but they do accept donations. There's also an impressive lecture hall and a good library here for visiting students and professors. Much work is also done here on acid rain, in any number of the thirteen labs here. To get to the Bermuda Biological Station, go to 17 Biological La (which is off of Ferry Rd.), Ferry Reach, St. George's Parish.
