Crystal Cave

Hamilton Area

Crystal Cave is the best cave system in the area, complete with stalagtites and stalactites galore and a crystal-clear green-blue pond, 120 feet underground. The caves were discovered in 1907 by some adventurous boys chasing after their cricket ball which had rolled into what they thought was merely a hole but was actually an opening to the giant caves. There are tours year-round, and there is an admission fee. The tour guide will point out formations that look like people and familiar objects, and children usually seem to love this, if you happen to have chidren with you on vacation. For a few dollars more, you can also visit Fantasy Cave, which is nearby but smaller than Crystal Cave.
