As a top class touristy destination, Bermuda offers a wide variety of accommodations to meet visitors expectations, ranging from bed and breakfast, to tiny guest houses, to Bermudian cottage colonies which comprise of separate private cottages offering all the services of hotels, and large full service resort hotels with swimming pools, spas, beautiful private beaches or beach clubs, and tennis courts and all sort of facilities, including golf courses.

Most establishments offer a variety of arrangements, from the European room only Plan, to the American Plan including room, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the variants such as the Modified American Plan, consisting of room, breakfast and dinner, the Bermuda Plan with room and breakfast, or the popular Continental Plan offering room and a light breakfast.

Depending on the chosen plan, the availability of restaurants on the island may suit all your needs, and some accommodations have kitchens or kitchenettes with mini fridges for beverages or light snacks. Also A few of them have maid service for preparing and serving breakfast, particularly in cottage units.

Accommodations in Bermuda are classified into 4 basic categories: hotels and resorts, cottage colonies, cottages and apartments, or guest houses and inns. Regardless of the accommodation type, all Bermuda hotel stays are subject to a 7.25 percent Bermuda Government Hotel Occupancy Tax, and another 10 percent service charge to your bill for the tipping concept, both added to your bill at check-out.

Making a quick overview based on the above categories, we can say that the small number of hotels in Bermuda are mostly family-owned establishments, but all of them include major tourist facilities such as their own pools, spas, beaches and water sports activities available in some of them.

To this group belong hotels such as the Coco Reef, Harmony Club, Grape Bay Beach, Pompano Beach Club, The Reefs, Rosedon Hotel, Royal Palms Hotel, Surf Side Beach Club and the Waterloo House.

Additionally, hotel resorts offer several restaurants, private beaches or other complimentary services including concierge, room service, children's programs, taxi stands, most water sports facilities, etc.

Some of the most popular hotel resorts in Bermuda are Elbow Beach, Fairmont Southampton, Grotto Bay Beach Resort, Fairmont Hamilton Princess, Wyndham Bermuda Resort and Spa.

Cottage colonies are up-market establishments having a main club house with restaurant, lounge and bar in separate cottages or within small clusters of them spread throughout landscaped grounds, with private beach, gym, spa, water sports facilities, and high degree of privacy such as Pink Beach Club, Ariel Sands, Cambridge Beaches, and Horizons and Cottages.

Another great deal of privacy in Bermuda are the apartments and cottages, with all facilities and comfort of you own home. Depending on the price range, they may include full kitchens or kitchenettes, as well as a maid service such as at Munro Beach Cottages, Dawkins Manor, Grape Bay Cottages Astwood Cove, Southlyn House, Rosemont Guest Apartments, Bermuda Rentals, Clairfont Apartments, Sunflower, Bermuda Getaway, Brightside Guest Apartments, Clear View Suites and Villas, or Greenbank Guest House and Cottages.

Finally, in the category of Bermuda's guest houses and inns, we find that most of them are basically old Bermudian manor houses converted into tourist accommodations, so it is possible that a wide number of them have their own lush gardens and include a swimming pool even if not near the coast.

In general terms, guest houses and inns serve breakfast and dinner in a communal lounge, and the most representative are Granaway Guest House, Fordham Hall, Aunt Nea's Inn, Greene's Guest House, The Oxford House, Little Pomander Guest House, Salt Kettle House, Erith Guest House and Edgehill Manor.

Internet is not widely available as service in Bermuda accommodations but at internet cafes, where visitors to the island can surf at any of the most popular locations including, TeleBermuda International Customer Centre, MR Onions, Logic Internet Cafe, Internet Lane and Swiss Connection.

However, if you take with you your own PC with modem, Logic Communications provide in-room internet service for people staying at one of the major hotels, resorts or guest houses. This company also offers temporary internet accounts for visitors staying elsewhere. Just keep in mind you will need to purchase the corresponding adapter for your PC.

The electrical current in Bermuda is 110 V, 60 Hz AC as in North America, with flat, two-pronged plugs in use. European visitors will need to force their rounded plugs into position as British travelers will try even harder if they do not have the proper adapter for their 3-pronged plugs.
