Bridge House
St. George's
Bridge House is very very old, even for Bermuda standards, where lots of examples of architecture you'll see on vacation date from the 1800's. Bridge House was built in the 1600's. It's so old nobody really knows exactly when in the 1600's, but it was definitely built before 1700. It's named Bridge House because there's a small tidal creek neearby, over which a bridge was built. They named the house after the bridge, which apparently didn't get its own name, hence the house is simply Bridge House.
They used to house the governors of Bermuda here at Bridge House, but now since it's so old and must be preserved, it's owned by the Bermuda National Trust. The folks of the Bermuda National Trust lease it out as a group of little apartments and an art studio and a little shop. It's located on Bridge Street, which is off of the main King's Square, off the northeast corner of the Square.
