Featherbed Alley Printery
St. George's
This little Bermuda cottage houses a little printing press that actually produces printed material. What's so remarkable about that? It's a printing press just like they ones they used over 500 years ago when the device was firt invented. History is kept alive by the ever-so-patient folks who run the Featherbed Alley Printery, and you can see it in action 5 days a week for just a few dollars.
It's located on, guess what, Featherbed Alley, which is off Duke of Kent Street, across from Somers Garden just north of King's Square. It's actually in the basement of the St. George's Historical Society Museum. Local volunteers dress up in period clothing so you really get a feel for how old the press is, and they'll walk you around and divulge interesting tidbits about the press and this history.
It's open April to November.
